Statements

The only thing anyone can do is make statements whether written or spoken this includes the Not I’s  It entirely my responsibility as to how I handle these statements from within, and without I can see that it has no value to my purpose or I can see that it has value to my purpose. I do not have to defend self from any statement. I do not have to analyze it. I do not have to interpret it. I do not have to reject it. I do not have to accept it. The end result is that I have accepted certain statements as true or valid to me and this is what I live by. This is my truth. I do not have to sell it to anyone else. I do not have to convert anyone else above all. I know that it has absolutely nothing to do with what is ultimately true if there is such a thing as ultimate truth, for instance, I have heard the statement that most people are stupid bastards, and I have heard the statement that all humans are Christ incarnate. Thus everyone is Christ playing a role to see if I can recognize him in that role. I have no way of determining the validity of either statement, however at various times in life, I have lived as though each statement were true, for a given length of time have accepted it as being true and have lived by it. I much prefer the latter. The real personality is the frame of reference made up of consciously chosen statements from within, and without that have been consciously accepted as being true, and have been lived by the false personality of which there are at least two or three is the unconsciously chosen frame of reference that was accepted as true because the statement was made by one accepted as an authority or because it appealed to one or more of the four dual basic urges being two or more. They are in conflict, so the statements that were accepted as true are not lived by they are only defended. Security is to be free of the missionary impulses, no need whatsoever to convince our secure agreement from another as to the validity of the statements to have accepted as being true and lived by. Our true insecurity is represented by the missionary impulse to gain converts to what I have accepted as being true. The missionary impulse is to gain agreements as to the statements I have accepted as being true, but I require agreements to gratify self and relieve the self of insecurity. The greater the insecurity, the greater the missionary drive, the only true psychological spiritual security is when I do not have to find out to get agreements or to defend any statement that I have accepted as being true and have lived by nor do I have to prove that any statements that I do not choose to live by as wrong, untrue, illusionary, etc., etc. etc.

The above our statements. There is nothing to prove or defend.

Pity verses love

To the average conditioned mind, pity equals being loved. Therefore, we cling to all of the unpleasant things and frequently rehash them so that we can enjoy the self pity and thus feel loved, as when we were a child cuddled by a mother when hurt. Self pity is emotional masturbation. I have to resent in order to feel sorry for myself, which is SENTIMENTALITY. Sentimentality means a ‘sickly’ mentality. Most people equate sentimentality with love.

From Notes

Agape can best be described as: I see that whatever you are doing, at the moment of doing, you feel is either right, proper, or justified, or you wouldn’t be able to do it.

Agape

Agape: understanding that anything I or another ever did is doing or will do is felt at the time of doing to be right or proper or justified with the light that person has at that time

Teaching ideas

 13. We can live with no emergencies, which is true living. In conditioned living there is an unending series of emergencies.

14. There is one person in the world you’re always going to live with. That’s you.

15. If you want those around you to like you, you have to like yourself.

16. Agape:  able to see from another’s viewpoint.

17. Everything that happens to us is a gift so that we might evolve.

Transformation

The picture of man

Epistle

Whenever or however, I make anything important I am anxious

Being anxious, I am either angry, guilty, fearful, or feeling insecure. This is to be a state of conflict, struggle, and resistance or stress.

Being anxious is to be struggling toward an ideal what ought to have been what ought to be now

The struggle toward an ideal or illusion is the disintegrating factor, that which tears one up into many

All that the not I’s do is to make things, events, what ifs, if only, had of, etc. important

To see this to experience making things important is to be really free

Do not erase this from awareness for eternity plus one day

From Phoenix June 1971 excerpt on talk about opposites

 Opposites

There are two types of adjectives that we generally use…only we only use one of them much- The judging adjective.

Are all ideas of opposites illusions?

You can describe things.. until you feel them

The mind that we have is a mind that thinks in opposites, the lower mind is the one you react with

This is why the initiation goes on it is to point out to us that there is no danger, whatever, we are fighting with opposites.

Now the first thing we do in being born after we get out of that lovely little spot where nothing is to start feeling in opposites.

So long as we think, in opposites, there is no chance of living.

Now, if you live by your nature, which is the picture of man without all the little decisions in there as motivators, there is a sensing and an interpreting.

As long as you think in opposites, you are in a state of conflict and the struggle towards the ideal, which is the disintegrating factor

But we are dead the moment that we make up an ideal and set it up, we have died to living.
