wisdom
Anything anyone including myself ever did was felt at the time of doing to be right or proper or justified with what light they had

(starts out here)Explain a bit things that we could practice that would eliminate all the distresses and etc that people do. So we will continue in that area this afternoon, and in a little while we'll stop making talks and we'll all sit down and have discussions. Most everybody has a question they would like to have particularly, and I'll get off the high chair and sit down on the same level as everybody else and we'll talk about it. Another words, if you've got something to talk about you might as well talk about it here as anywheres else, you're among the best of friends you'll ever have, so you can't do much better than that.
One of the things that always keeps not-I's active is wanting to know what to do. When you try and use the brain as a fortune teller you're only contacting "A" and "B". Now, quite often somebody says,"Well I want "X" to tell me what to do". X never tells anybody what to do but it'll do anything you say is true and of first value, but it'll never tell you anything to do, period. And if you say,'what should I do?' "A" and "B" will both answer you, right quick. And it will give you 2 opposing ideas, and then you'll have to go ask somebody else what you should do. And of course, "A" and "B" and them give you 2 more, by that time you get very confused and then you can ask another one or two and by that time you're in utterly confusion. So "X" is never gonna give us any advice, it's never going to tell us what to do, but it so loves us that it will do anything that you say is true and is first value. But people never got that in their head because for years back they have heard that they could ask and receive, but they forgot to see that they've got to ask right, by practicing something and then you would have it. But you will not get advice from "X", it is to much of a gentleman or a lady or whatever it may be, an 'it' to give advice. You see, anybody that has your best interests at heart will never give advice, they just won't do that. But of course the people who roll by "A" and "B" will constantly tell you what to do, what you should, what you ought to do and etc. But "A" and "B" they give advice all the time. A is trying to convert B into being A, and B is trying to get A into being B, that's the biggest noise you're going to hear, but they're always giving advice to you.
So we're going to talk a bit about the kind of questions we can ask. Now, frequently a person says 'Why did this happen?' Now A and B will answer you, they will give you 2 separate reasons and get you all confused over that. We often ask, 'What should I do?' and A and B will answer that one. They'll give you 2 fancy words and we can worry over that for ages. Now we're gonna take some questions that possibly are shall we say are valid questions.
What am I?
Where am I?
What's going on here?
Now, that's keepin' it in the present, not off in the future. What's going on here.
What can I do? Here, now.
And we might continue some others similar to those. Now, let's see if we can practice livin' by these questions a little bit. We'll put the questions, an we'll practice livin' them a little bit. So I will try to answer the questions as I have practiced it for a number of years and I find it works very delightfully. I'll answer them. I don't say that's all there is or it's correct but it sure does work well. Now, you can experiment with it and practice it if you like. Or you can ignore it.
What am I? I'm a privileged invited guest. Now if you look around you really didn't make to big an effort to get here that you recall of, you were here. And when you got here you found the world well equipped. You had Highways, Automobiles, all kinds of Orchards and Farms, Buildings and cities and all kinds of manufacturing establishments. So you could have everything that you could require was here. Is that right Darryl? It all was here. So where am I? I'm at a beautiful party called the planet Earth. The big estate called the Earth. And I'm a privileged invited guest at a beautiful estate called the Earth. It is pretty isn't it? I think it's so. I go around and look at it and it's a very beautiful estate.
And what's going here? There having a lot of games, like all parties, they're havin' a lot of games going on. You can call them business games, you can call them professional games, you can call them interpersonal games, you can call them marriage games, you can call it healing art game, you can call it whatever you like. But there is all kinds of games going on. And, um, there's all kinds of guests got invited to this big party, and it seems that life is the host, and that life must find all these other guests interesting or they wouldn't keep them around. Did you ever think of that? Now, the host didn't ask me to check out his guest list, so I have no fault to find with the other guests. I'm just thankful he invited me. And I don't feel I've earned it in any way, but I must have been interesting in some way or other, to see what kind of commotions I was going through, so he invited me to the party, hmm? And so I'm a privileged invited guest of a beautiful estate called Earth, and there are a lot of games going on and a lot of other guests here. And it so it looks to me, what can I do.
I can be my idea of a good guest. I can be kind and considerate of the other guests, I can do my best to not mess up the place where the party is being held. And I can enter into any games I want to, and stay out of the ones I don't want to play. I don't want to play the some of the games I see being played so I don't play those games. And if I do play a game, I am going to play it to the best of my ability. If it's one where there's competition in it, I'm gonna be a worthy opponent. I wouldn't want to play chess or checkers with someone who was deliberately lettin' me win. I want them to be givin' it all they got so I know if I can do any good or not. So when we choose to practice being a good guest, you're choosing to see this earth as a big estate, that life is the host, and that I'm a privileged invited guest, and that everybody else is a privileged invited guest, I can begin to observe what a good guest does at a big party. There's some of the guests that I particularly like to sit down and visit with, and there's some that I just as soon not visit with, so I don't bother with it very much, but I don't find any fault with those, it's just a matter of taste that I don't particularly am interested in some of the games that the others are playing, and I can keep on looking at being a good guest. I can understand that the other guests are there. I don't try and accumulate and put everything in my pocket. Now, we are the guests of Miss Virgina today, and if some of went back here and started gathering up her pretty new candle holders and start puttin' in our pocket, I imagine that she might, before you went out the door say, 'you can leave the candle holders on the table'. And I've noticed that there are some of the guests at the party who try and accumulate everything they can get. Now, I didn't bring anything to the party. Not one thing. I didn't even have clothes when I arrived. I didn't speak any language or anything. I found a world well equipped and it's all here so I can use everyday. But I don't see any use of trying to accumulate. Because I've noticed everyone of them leaves left everything they've accumulated at the party. Did you ever notice that? They don't take nothin' with 'em. Now, it's here to use, I can enjoy the sunset just as much if I had a title to it. I can look out here at the mountains. I can enjoy those just as much. I stayed in a room last night, and I enjoyed it just as much as if I owned it. I didn't have to buy the joint or anything else I just used. Now, so far the host has provided me for everyday I've been here. It's been quite a while I've been at the party now. He's provided me with food, clothing, shelter and transportation everyday since I've been at the party. Same to you? Everyday. Now I don't need to accumulate it because it's all here to use today and any extra I don't see any use trying to carry around. But I can always do that. Now I've also observed that a guest at a party might make some contribution to the well being of the party. so everyday I practice making a little contribution to the enjoyment of the party. Wherever the corner of the party I might be in today I try and make some little contribution to the enjoyment of the party today. Today I am trying to make some little contribution to the enjoyment of the party a little more, and maybe even recognizing that they are at a party, a very nice party. Now if I don't understand what's going on, I am liable to find fault with all of the other guests, while they're even here, maybe I even might want to wipe out a few of 'em, and maybe I want to have the other guests all do what I think they ought to do. Maybe I'm trying to take everything they're playing with away from them and call it mine. I want all the checker pieces mine now, or the chess pieces or what ever. I might feel that the party was some type of a competition, and I was owed a livin' and I had to get in there and dig for it or somebody's going to take it away from me. So I can make a contribution to the party. And it's possible, that if I am intelligent enough, and see it clear enough, as to what's going on, and make my little contribution to the party, maybe I can be a companion to the host. He must of found me interesting to invite me, and it's possible I can be a companion to the host. (to be cont'd)
One of the things that always keeps not-I's active is wanting to know what to do. When you try and use the brain as a fortune teller you're only contacting "A" and "B". El Paso retreat excerpt
Question from the audience:
The power of the human mind to make a choice. Do you feel that this is innate in every man?
Dr. Bob:
What the ability to make a choice? No. Most people can't choose nothin'. They 'A' and 'B' it to death*They're total state of indecision, and decide they want to do this, BUT. Now that's conditioning. And so we start in on the other side and then we want to do that but. And then they go the other way.
So no, that is pure conditioning, and that is one of the things we're gonna look at tomorrow.(Audience:good.hear laughs) And we'll kick conditioning out the door and say look, this is the way it is there's no ideals you see, but we will consider that quite in depth tomorrow as to the way to be able to choose what ever's out there what you want to choose..
I'll give you one pointer to think about for tonight:
If you're not lookin' for the ideal it's no problem.But if you're lookin' for the ideal it's almost impossible to come to a decision or a choice of any kind, because we are always, a little thought jumps up what if this turns out this way so we're afraid to that. So as long as you're lookin' for the ideal it becomes next to impossible.
* the 'A' and "B' means:
A side to complain, blame, and stick up for rights. The 'B' side is to please, do and believe as my authorities say, and self improve. See illustration of picture of man on Marsha summers site for reference. Here's the address;

excerpt from conciousness health wealth and love
It's the beginning of what I call agape, love. That I see that whatever anybody is doing there doing what they feel is right or proper or justifiable with what level of consciousness they have,what light they have, which is consciousness. If there down here, then that's all they could be doing, so I can't fuss about what they're doing and why don't they straighten up and do like me, bitch all the time. You know, the person that bitches all the time because someone else bitches has always amused me. You know I have people come in just bitching up a storm because their husband bitched at them. Or a man comes in because his wife bitched at him. I really don't see much difference in it. Do you? Except I'm justified in mine and she wasn't. That's all.
So, when we can see that we have to ask our self what can I do, being a good guest is considerate, harmless to the best of our ability, and that doesn't mean I'm going to cow tow and try to please everybody, I'm not going to hurt anybody. And the third one is that I would make some contribution. Now how can I make a contribution unless I feel I already had everything. No way, I'm only grudgingly paying a bill. Now this is not because one is paying for anything, or because one should do it, or ought to do it, but when you recognize you have everything, you want to say thank you for having been invited to this beautiful thing called life.

Audience: When I am a joyous being and over hear are not a joyous being
Dr.Bob: Uh huh, that's right the woods is full of them..
Audience: How do you not let them affect you?
Dr.Bob: Well, that's whether you want to be a victim or not. Are you a victim of everybody around you? Or, are you going on being pleasant regardless of other folks. They don't know what they're doing, they're not trying to pull you down. It's mechanical, they've been at for years and don't know it. I don't see any use of lettin' them get me down, do you? I'm the one it hurts when I get down, not them, they're already hurtin'
Audience: I used to say I got my bubble burst.
Dr. Bob: Well that's cause you were a victim. Now, let's don't play the victim role, keep our bubbles up and bright, and don't give them to anybody else. In other words, I'm not gonna turn my inner state if being, which is the most valuable thing I have, I'm not gonna turn it over to some jerk that's down in the dumpies. That's his (or her) business. Huh? You got that? I'm not gonna turn it over to someone goin' "suh suh suh" (grumpy voice) I'm not gonna do that, 'cause I'm the one that gets to feelin' miserable, and he's already miserable, so I'm not hating him, not doing anything for him (or her) so let's don't play the victim role okay? You didn't get your bubble burst, you poked it, okay?
