Roswell '75 part 1

...So while we're waitin' for everybody to get in, I'm very glad to be here, I'm very happy to see all the wonderful people I've seen so many times. So we'll wait just a second until everybody gets in. And we will be ready to start....(note; skipped part of tape)
We're going to talk today, basically on ideas. Now, ideas are basically what we all live by, whether we are aware of it or not. And we will try through the day to come up with what ideas are, which is the ones we talk with all of the time that you unknowingly use, and ones that we could use. Now we're going to first start with a little diagram for a little bitty bit. This is I with a line drawn under it. Real I. Now all it only has one purpose. And that purpose is survive. Now it has never made an idea. Now matter how many times you have say, 'my idea' it didn't make it, you just borrowed that one somewheres. And no matter how many times you have come up with an idea in the head and fallen in love with it, and wasted all your money and went broke, or what ever else happened to you, you did not originate that idea. Now there are two sources of ideas available to us, one is conditioning. And in the tapes and other things we call this 'not-I'. It is not 'I' with a line drawn under it, it is sometimes called 'I' with quotation marks around it. It is a false 'I'. Now it has all gobs of ideas, all of which purport how to tell us to survive......(interrupted by student coming in late) So the 'not I's', or "I" the false "I" has a bunch if ideas which it constantly suggests to I. Now I is very subject suggestion.  I with a real I  'cause it's lookin' for a ways and means to survive It's lookin' for tools you might say. Now the first tool we got of course was the four dual basic urges that which you're all familiar with that the purpose of living is to gain pleasure and escape pain, gain attention and avoid being ignored and rejected, and oh what terrors it is when we are rejected a little bit. And to gain approval and escape disapproval, and to gain a sense of importance, and escape a sense of inferiority and useless or unnecessary. Then it is suggested that is the whole purpose of living, the way to survive. And it tells us it is the only way to survive is to have pleasure and comfort, and escape pain on all levels, and if you never had any pain, you'd never survive very long. You'd pick up a hot skillet and would never know it until you smelled meat the fresh meat cookin'. You would eat somethin' that was poison, and you wouldn't get nauseated and upchuck, you would just die a little bit. If you come across some nice little lovely bacteria or some little micro organism that like to set up housekeeping and like to use our blood stream for their sewage disposal, there would be no adaptation to it, there would be no effort to through it off, they would destroy you. But thank goodness they go through an effort to destroy them, X, life does, and we feel pretty rigged, don't we? And certainly we don't want everybody's attention, it would smother me very quickly. Sometimes you need a little privacy and don't need so much attention. And certainly, I want to be ignored by a whole bunch of people, bill collectors, various and sundry other noxious agents that run through the world. And I don't care if I have approval of everybody because some people only approve of me if I get drunk, some people will only approve of me if I help them rob a bank. Some people will only approve of me if I go dirty, if I don't clean myself up at all. Other people only approve if I do things that I'm just totally disinterested in. And I don't want to be important, because if I'm important, everybody's gonna be shootin' at me. I like to be totally unnoticed, low profile, and go merrily on my way. So if we look at those, that was not a means for survival for a grown person.

Epistle

1. Whenever or however "I" make anything important, I am anxious.
2. Being anxious, I am either angry, feeling guilty, fearful, or feeling insecure. This is to be in a state of conflict, struggle, resistance, Stress.
3. Being anxious is to be struggling toward an illusion, the illusion of the ideal, what ought to have been-what ought to be now.
4. The struggle toward an illusion - an ideal, is the disintegrating factor.
5. All the not "I's do - is make things, events, what ifs, if only, had ofs, etc. important.
6. To see this, to experience making things important is to be free, really FREE!
7. Do not erase this from awareness for eternity plus one day.

Teaching idea

If we experience freely, we are peaceful. If we resist experiencing, we are in conflict.

All we can do is report what we're sensing. That is being obedient to our nature. Our purpose is to serve Spirit by interpreting the senses. I am disobedient to my nature when I judge.

The four dual basic urges The primal purpose

The being will always do that which will bring about "it's" concept of  what is good. The primal (baby's) decision that the purpose of living is to be non disturbed, is experienced first on the physical level, then after a few months, also on the psychological level. Later it is experienced on the emotional level, and still later on the transcendental level.

Level                         Gain                                Escape

Physical                  Comfort and pleasure         Pain

Mental                    Attention                      Being ignored or rejected

Emotional               Approval                       Disapproval

Transcendental       Being needed,feeling important      Inferiority;
                               Appearance of being important       Insignificance

Teaching idea

Everyone has a purpose, either known or unknown. Once you have a purpose clearly defined, it operates automatically.

Teaching idea

As long as we claim (my, mind) anything or anybody we are identified with it.

Teaching ideas

Headlines page 16

When one has the state of consciousness referred to as conflict, one is being intimidated by thought.

The two worlds

How the stage is set for conflict, struggle and resistance
We are in the man made world
A world of:
Machines
Ideas
Ideals
Standards
Where we play games composed of:
Players
Officials
Rules
Standards
Games such as:
Traffic
Business
School
Marriage
We are of the real world
A world of:
Real living beings, no two of which are alike, no two of which are in the same environment at the same time.
Therefore: A world where there can be no standards or opposites for living beings, only differences.
The great games- which set up Standards or opposites for living beings:
The Healing arts...................Normal vs. Abnormal
Theology...............................Good vs. Bad
Big Business........................Pretty vs Ugly
Power Policies.......................In vs Out

These standards are suggestions which set up ideals and thereby result in conflict, struggle and resistance.
